In
anticipation of the forthcoming Kali Puja and Diwali celebrations, West Bengal has implemented robust security measures, creating an atmosphere of heightened
vigilance across the region. On Sunday, officials confirmed the deployment of
over 5,000 police personnel in Kolkata, the state's capital, strategically
positioned to uphold law and order. This significant security reinforcement
aims to not only ensure public safety but also to closely monitor and regulate
the use of unauthorized firecrackers during the festivities.
The
security apparatus extends its watchful eye to critical locations, including
shopping malls, markets, religious sites, and railway stations within Kolkata.
Remarkably, 21 deputy commissioner-ranked officers and 35 assistant commissioners
are actively participating in the security deployment, emphasizing the
thoroughness of the operation.
Beyond the capital, areas such as Barasat and Barrackpore in the North 24 Parganas district, known for their grand community Kali Puja celebrations, witness a similar surge in security protocols. This cautious approach is mirrored in other major cities across the state, including Siliguri, Asansol, Durgapur, and Kalyani, where authorities are leaving no stone unturned to ensure a secure environment for revelers.
