Indian authorities are quite alarmed by the horrible cyber-slavery scenario in which residents of India are being held captive in Cambodia and have taken appropriate action.

Investigations reveal that the victims, the majority of whom were from southern India, were drawn to Cambodia by the prospect of data entry work. Once they arrived in Cambodia, they were forced to commit cybercrimes, where they made up social media profiles or pretended to be police officers in order to deceive their Indian victims.

The Odisha police from Rourkela played a major role in helping to uncover the scam. As a result, a number of people were placed under custody, and searches are currently underway to identify and apprehend the key participants in the scheme.

Some of the victims have been helped to return to India by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs in India and the Indian Embassy in Cambodia. The central authorities are working together under the direction of the Ministry of Home Affairs to create a strategy for the victims' rescue.

Forced labourers at the fictitious businesses described appalling working circumstances, including as physical assault and food deprivation in the event that goals were not reached.

Others who pretended to be women on dating apps were part of the scam, which aimed to dupe others into buying cryptocurrencies. Also, a fraudulent online application was used to solicit investments in fictitious stocks.
