Mobile Internet and Bulk SMS Services Suspended

Mobile internet and bulk SMS services have been suspended in Haryana's Nuh District for two days following security concerns related to the upcoming Brij Mandal Jal Abhishek Yatra, announced by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. The suspension, in effect from noon today until midnight on August 28, is part of preventive measures taken by authorities to maintain law and order.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad had planned to organize the Brij Mandal Jal Abhishek Yatra on August 28. However, the Haryana government denied permission for the Yatra, citing potential disturbances to law and order. Local police and intelligence agencies have also voiced this concern.

This suspension of internet services is one of many instances in the region. The Nuh administration had previously suspended both internet and SMS services after clashes erupted between two communities on July 31, underlining the tension and sensitivity of the area.

Nuh's Deputy Commissioner communicated the recommendation to halt internet service and bulk messages to the state's Home Department on Friday. Subsequently, the Home Secretary of Haryana issued orders today to suspend internet services from August 26 to August 28, aligning with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad's proposed yatra dates.

Rattan Singh, a member of the Panchayat committee, commented on the Yatra, stating, "The religious organizations conveyed to the Panchayat that their Yatra was incomplete and sought to resume it on August 28. The Panchayat endorsed their request."

Singh further emphasized that permissions are typically sought before initiating such yatras and once granted, the responsibility for ensuring security lies with the police.

With tensions running high and security concerns at the forefront, the temporary suspension of mobile internet and bulk SMS services aims to prevent potential escalation and maintain peace during this period.
