In a significant development, the Mumbai Police Cyber Cell has initiated legal proceedings against the owner of a gaming app for exploiting Sachin Tendulkar's name in a misleading promotional campaign. The Cyber Cell filed an FIR after receiving a complaint from Sachin's personal assistant, Ramesh Pardhe.

The controversial video, purportedly generated through artificial intelligence (AI) and identified as a deepfake, falsely depicts Sachin Tendulkar endorsing the gaming app. In the video, Sachin is wrongly quoted, stating that his daughter, Sara, earns a substantial daily income by playing games on the platform.

The FIR has been lodged under Section 500 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), addressing defamation, and Section 66 (A) of the Information Technology Act, related to sending offensive messages through communication services. Mumbai Police's swift response reflects the seriousness with which they are tackling the misuse of technology for spreading false information.

Sachin Tendulkar, known as the 'Master Blaster,' clarified the video's inauthenticity on social media, expressing concern over the rampant misuse of technology. He urged users to report such instances, emphasizing the need for social media platforms to be vigilant and responsive to complaints.

The gaming app owner faces legal repercussions for attempting to gain attention through deceptive means. The controversy highlights the challenges associated with deepfake technology and the importance of safeguarding individuals' identities in the digital age.

As the investigation unfolds, Sachin Tendulkar prepares to return to the cricket field for the One World One Family Cup, an exhibition match featuring legends, scheduled to take place in Karnataka on Thursday, January 18. The incident serves as a cautionary tale about the potential consequences of misusing technology for promotional purposes, particularly in the gaming industry.
