Mumbai's prominent figures, including Bollywood stars and sports legends, turned up for the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024. Encouraging voter participation, celebrities emphasized civic duty, blending star power with the democratic process, while security and arrangements ensured a seamless voting experience.
Mumbai witnessed an electrifying start to the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024 as Bollywood celebrities, politicians, and prominent personalities turned out in droves to exercise their democratic right. The day began with Akshay Kumar among the first to cast his vote, lauding the Election Commission for senior citizen-friendly arrangements.
Throughout the day, actors Kartik Aaryan, Suniel Shetty, and Soha Ali Khan joined the polling action, sharing messages encouraging citizens to participate. "We don’t have government by the majority but by those who vote," Khan reminded her followers. Similarly, Farhan Akhtar appealed for higher voter turnout, emphasizing civic responsibility before voicing complaints about governance.
Sports icon Sachin Tendulkar, alongside his family, inspired voters with their enthusiastic participation, while filmmaker Subhash Ghai urged citizens to focus on issues like education and development, calling voting a “moral responsibility.” Other luminaries like John Abraham, Sharvari Wagh, and Sonu Sood echoed similar sentiments, with many taking to social media to share their inked fingers and messages of motivation.
Key political leaders also cast their votes in a highly anticipated election featuring significant contests across 288 constituencies. Security arrangements were tight as election officials worked to ensure a smooth process, amid appeals from various leaders for increased turnout.
