Navjot Kaur Sidhu faces a ₹850 crore legal notice over Navjot Singh Sidhu’s claims about her cancer recovery through dietary changes. Medical experts refuted these assertions as unscientific, while CCS demanded proof, warning of legal action. Sidhu clarified his remarks, emphasizing collaboration with doctors.
Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, has been served a ₹850 crore legal notice by the Chhattisgarh Civil Society (CCS). The notice challenges claims made by her husband regarding her recovery from Stage 4 cancer through non-traditional remedies.
At a recent press conference, Navjot Singh Sidhu suggested that eliminating sugar, refined flour, and certain carbohydrates from Navjot Kaur's diet helped her beat cancer after doctors had given her only 40 days to live. These remarks sparked a backlash from the medical community, with accusations that such claims undermine trust in allopathic medicine and could endanger patients by encouraging them to abandon conventional treatments.
Dr. Kuldeep Solanki, CCS convenor, has demanded proof to substantiate these claims within a week, warning of potential legal action. He emphasized the danger of spreading “false information,” urging the couple to clarify their stance publicly.
Sidhu’s statements were widely criticized by oncologists, including 262 specialists from the Tata Memorial Hospital, who collectively refuted his dietary claims as lacking scientific evidence. Dr. C.S. Pramesh, the hospital’s director, stated that while research on dietary links to cancer continues, there is no conclusive proof supporting Sidhu’s assertions.
