In the strife-ridden terrains of Naxal-affected Sukma in Chhattisgarh, a police constable, Narendra Negi, resorted to a tragic act, attempting suicide with his service rifle. Negi, aged 25, deployed at Chhindgarh police station, aimed his INSAS rifle at his chest, necessitating immediate evacuation to Sukma District Hospital. The disheartening incident unfolded on Monday evening at approximately 6:45 pm within the precincts of the police station.

Constable Negi's struggles were compounded by an unresolved head injury, an issue persistently hampering his well-being. Sources revealed Negi's prolonged medical treatment for the previous head injury had taken a toll on him, leading to his distress. A police official indicated, "Negi was battling with the repercussions of his head injury treatment's ineffectiveness, possibly triggering this dire action." The matter is currently under thorough investigation to discern the sequence of events that culminated in this tragic episode.

Prior to this unsettling event, another distressing occurrence struck Chhattisgarh, this time in Korba district. A wild elephant faced a fatal end due to an unexpected electric shock caused by a current leak. The unfortunate incident unfolded in the Pansaan forest range, situated under the Katghora forest division, adjacent to Bagapara village. The elephant's demise occurred when it inadvertently encountered an 11 KV electric line maintained by the electricity department.
