In a major operation, Mumbai NCB disrupted an international drug syndicate, seizing Rs 15 Cr worth of cocaine from a Zambian national in a Mumbai hotel. Two arrests, including a Tanzanian woman linked to the consignment, were made. The crackdown is a significant blow to drug trafficking during the festive season.
Two kilos
of cocaine worth Rs 15 crore were seized by the Mumbai Narcotics Control Bureau
(NCB) as part of a well-planned operation that delivered a serious blow to an
international narcotics gang. During the operation, intentions to transport the
narcotics into India were discovered, and LA Gilmore, a native of Zambia, was
arrested in a Mumbai hotel.
A notorious worldwide drug syndicate's strategy was discovered through intelligence amid efforts to stop drug trafficking during the holiday season. LA Gilmore, the designated carrier, was en route to Mumbai from Addis Ababa and Lusaka, where he intended to deliver the contraband. On November 9, while monitoring the hotel, Gilmore was stopped by NCB Mumbai investigators, who found two packets of cocaine in his hands.

Gilmore
admitted under interrogation that he had ties to middlemen in the narcotics
trade. A handler who was ordering Gilmore to go to Delhi for the drug delivery
was exposed by the inquiry. On November 11, Mr. Augustino, a Tanzanian lady,
was detained. She was supposed to accept the shipment in Delhi. The worldwide
network of the syndicate extended to other cities, such as Bengaluru, Goa,
Delhi, Mumbai, and Delhi.
An important development for law enforcement is the timely takedown of this illicit drug trafficking network at the start of the holiday season, which has disrupted the market for high-end party drugs. Deploying both suspects to Mumbai NCB for additional questioning is a critical step in breaking up the narcotics ring.
