Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, speaking at the UNGA, labeled India as a “Blessing” and Iran as a “Curse,” presenting two contrasting maps. He urged sanctions against Iran and warned of retaliation if provoked, emphasizing the rising tensions in the Middle East amid ongoing conflicts.
During his address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu highlighted a stark contrast between nations, branding India as a “Blessing” and Iran as a “Curse.” Netanyahu presented two maps, using them to underline the geopolitical dynamics in the region amid increasing tensions with Iran.
The “Blessing” map illustrated a vision for collaboration between Israel and its Arab allies, proposing a land bridge connecting the Indian Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea. This visual aimed to symbolize unity and potential economic ties, portraying a hopeful outlook for future relations.
In contrast, the “Curse” map depicted what Netanyahu described as an "arc of terror" imposed by Iran, stretching from the Indian Ocean to the Mediterranean. This map included areas like the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and Syria's Golan Heights, which Israel claims as part of its territory.
Netanyahu called for global sanctions against Iran, urging nations to join forces in curbing Tehran’s nuclear ambitions. He criticized the international community for its leniency towards Iran, stating, “For too long the world has appeased Iran… that appeasement must end and that appeasement must end now.”

The Israeli leader further issued a stern warning to Iran, particularly regarding its support for Hezbollah. “If you strike us, we will strike you,” he declared, asserting Israel’s capability to respond effectively across the region. Tensions have been exacerbated following the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in July, escalating hostilities between Iran and Israel.
