The National Investigation Agency (NIA) attached two properties of a notorious Delhi-based smuggler, Razi Haider Zaidi, linked to the seizure of 102 kg of heroin smuggled from Afghanistan via Punjab's Amritsar border.

The attached properties include a residential plot in Muzaffarnagar, U.P, purchased by Razi for Rs 4,00,000, and a residential building in Delhi's Okhla Vihar, bought for Rs 24,50,000 in his wife's name. Both properties were seized under the NDPS Act as they were acquired with heroin sale proceeds.

The Indian Customs Department seized the 102.784 kg heroin consignment between April 24-26 last year, hidden in a shipment of licorice roots at the Integrated Check Post Attari.

Delhi Smuggler
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has attached two properties of heroin smuggler Razi Haider Zaidi in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar in connection with a case relating to the seizure of over 102 kg of heroin smuggled from Afghanistan via the Attari border in Amritsar.

NIA investigations revealed that Razi was the intended receiver, facilitated by Dubai-based Shahid Ahmed and Afghan-based smuggler Nazir Ahmed Qani. Razi paid Rs 11 lakh in cash as an advance for the heroin.

Further investigations found that Razi distributed heroin to associates across India and collected around Rs 2.5 crores in cash as proceeds, sharing some with Shahid Ahmed and his associates.

Earlier in February 2022, Razi, Shahid Ahmed, and Nazir Ahmad Qani smuggled 50 kg of heroin concealed in licorice roots from Afghanistan. A charge sheet was filed by the Narcotics Control Bureau in that case.

Razi previously imported chemicals through Iran to process heroin in Muzaffarnagar, seized later by NCB, New Delhi.

NIA found Razi involved in collecting narcotic drugs twice in November 2021, following Shahid Ahmed's instructions, and supplying them to Shahid's associates. Besides, Razi successfully smuggled heroin and collected money from its sales in Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat.

Initially investigated by the Indian Customs in Amritsar, the case later went to NIA under the Ministry of Home Affairs' direction.
