Nine years after bifurcation, AP finally has capital? Posted on February 1, 2023 News By Akta Yadav 387 Views bifurcation:- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced on 31st January that the state's capital will be shifted to Visakhapatnam. The remarks came as a direct indication that Amravati will no longer be developed, and the state is moving forward with its 3-capital idea. bifurcation Addressing investors at the International Diplomatic Alliance Meet, CM Reddy said, “I am here to invite you to Visakhapatnam, which is going to be our capital in the days to come. I myself will be shifting there in the months to come. I am inviting you to the Global Investors Summit we are organizing on March 3 and 4 at Visakhapatnam.” Andhra Pradesh requires a new capital since Hyderabad is now with Telangana, post bifurcation. The decision, however, didn't go well with the farmers in Amravati. They gave up 33,000 acres during the TDP regime for the capital city and naturally in a state of agitation. They also won a case in the high court, which directed the YSRCP Government to develop the greenfield capital in six months. But, the state government approached SC and put a stay on the orders of the High Court. Notably, Reddy wants to build Amravati as the legislative capital of the state, whereas developing Visakhapatnam as the executive and Kurnool as the judicial capital of the state. bifurcation With the grit and determination of the state government, it will be interesting to see how the farmers and people of Amravati as a whole are indemnified. If the government succeeds in implementing its 3-capital idea, would that mean a complete full stop on the developments in Amravati? The questions are many, the answers, however, no one knows.
