Ons Jabeur, the Tunisian tennis sensation and last year's US Open runner-up, showcased her unwavering determination as she battled past Czech teenager Linda Noskova in a nail-biting encounter to secure her spot in the tournament's third round.

 

In a match filled with twists and turns, the fifth-seeded Jabeur faced a formidable challenge from the 18-year-old Noskova. The opening set was a tense affair, with Jabeur narrowly clinching it 7-6(7). Noskova, who had previously defeated Jabeur in the Adelaide semi-finals earlier this year, surged ahead in the second set, leading 5-1. However, Jabeur mounted a remarkable comeback by winning three quick games, only to be momentarily shaken after taking a tumble while chasing a low shot at the net.

As the tension mounted, Jabeur seized control of the decider in the eighth game, ultimately securing victory on her fourth match point.

 

In her post-match comments, Jabeur admitted that she wasn't at her best physically but credited the night session for helping her. She mentioned, "I'm taking it slow... Let's see what's going to happen."

 

Jabeur's valiant performance sets up an exciting third-round clash with another Czech player, Marie Bouzkova, as she continues her quest for her maiden Grand Slam title.
