In the early hours of Monday, India's Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra achieved a historic milestone by clinching his nation's inaugural gold medal at the World Athletics Championships. He narrowly defeated Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem by less than a meter in the men's javelin throw final in Budapest. This marks Neeraj's second medal at the World Championships, following his silver last year.
In an interview with ANI regarding India's first gold medal at the World Athletics Championship in Budapest, the athlete's father, Satish Kumar, expressed that this marks a moment of immense pride for the nation winning a gold medal in the World Athletics Championship. Celebrations will occur when Neeraj returns to India.

In the 3000 meters steeplechase final of the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, on Monday, Parul Chaudhary secured the eleventh position. Nevertheless, she set a new national record by clocking 9:15.31 during the Championships.
Parul's achievement of the national record secured her qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics. During the steeplechase race, she initially led at the 200m split but lost her momentum, ultimately finishing in 11th place. However, she made a strong push in the last 100m split, moving up two spots from 13th to 11th.
Meanwhile, at the World Athletics Championships 2023, the Indian men's 4x400 meters relay team finished fifth in the final race. The team, consisting of Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Amoj Jacob, Muhammed Ajmal, and Rajesh Ramesh, clocked a time of 2:59.92.
