The latest comments made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha, especially the ones made towards the leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi have drawn a rather impassioned reaction from the Congress party and its supporters.

While responding to the debate on the motion of Thanks on the President’s address PM Modi unleashed a harsh verbal barrage on the Congress party with special reference to Mr. Gandhi. The Prime Minister spoke of the ‘balak buddhi’ complaint and branded Mr. Gandhi as an ‘emotional drama’ kind of person.

Modi also imitated the dialogue ‘Tumse na ho payega’ from the movie ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ and told Mr. Gandhi that the entire country was telling this to the Congress leader, meaning that the nation was telling the Congress leader that he was incapable of doing it.

In response to this, the Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that it was actually 140 crore Indians who made it clear to the Modi government that ‘Tumse Na Ho Payega’ in this election. Kharge also accused the Prime Minister of being insensitive and said that Modi had used the same word for the protesting farmers during the “parliamentary session of 2020-21”.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also chimed in and the intention of such remarks was to distract people from affairs like NEET controversy. For this, Yadav said, ‘Those who say ‘balak buddhi are balak’ themselves are’ It was not proper for the people to be called names when they had elected their leaders.

The Opposition has claimed that the Prime Minister has been avoiding answers on some of the major questions concerning the country and, therefore, has opted for insults. This has forced them to appeal to Modi to “tear the sentiments of the people” and shun what they refer to as an autocratic style of leadership.
