political secularism:-

Asaduddin Owaisi, the president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), expressed his belief that political secularism has been detrimental to the Muslim community in India, alleging that it has resulted in the marginalization of Muslims in political representation.

Owaisi made these comments in response to Rahul Gandhi, a leader of the Indian National Congress, who had spoken about the challenges faced by various marginalized groups, including Muslims, during his visit to the United States.

Owaisi contended that political secularism has failed to empower Indian Muslims and instead led to a decline in their representation in legislative bodies such as state assemblies and Parliament.

He expressed his opposition to the concept of political secularism, asserting that it has not been beneficial to the Muslim community.

In response to Gandhi's remarks, Owaisi criticized him for not specifically addressing the issues faced by Muslims and instead mentioning the experiences of Dalits and Sikhs during the 1980s. Owaisi argued that Gandhi should have focused on the plight of Muslims, citing incidents such as the killings of Junaid and Nasir in Rajasthan allegedly by right-wing groups.

He also criticized the Congress for supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in amending the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in 2019, which he claimed has disproportionately affected Muslims, Dalits, and dissenters.

Owaisi further highlighted instances of alleged misconduct by Congress-led governments, such as the organization of the 'Dharam Sansad' event in Chhattisgarh, where Mahatma Gandhi was reportedly insulted. He urged Rahul Gandhi to address these issues within his own party as well.

By raising these concerns, Owaisi aimed to draw attention to what he perceives as the failures and biases of political secularism, particularly regarding its impact on the Muslim community.
