Lalu Prasad Yadav's offer for Nitish Kumar to rejoin the INDIA bloc has stirred political buzz in Bihar. While Lalu expressed openness to reconciliation, opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav downplayed the idea, asserting no alliance is possible. BJP and JD(U) leaders dismissed speculation, affirming NDA's unity ahead of the 2025 assembly elections.
The political landscape in Bihar is abuzz with speculation following Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's recent offer to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to rejoin the INDIA bloc. During a media interaction at the Raj Bhawan, Nitish Kumar’s cryptic response, "Kya bol rahe hain [What are you saying]," further fueled intrigue about potential political realignments.
Lalu Yadav, known for his dynamic political moves, expressed readiness to reconcile with the Janata Dal (United) leader, stating, "I always forgive." However, his son, opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav, dismissed the remarks, attributing them to media curiosity. Tejashwi reiterated that there is no possibility of an alliance with JD(U), maintaining that the doors to the INDIA bloc are closed for Nitish Kumar.
Nitish Kumar has a history of aligning with the RJD in 2015 and later parting ways in 2017. He briefly rejoined the opposition’s grand alliance in 2022, only to return to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in 2023. This complex history adds layers to the current political buzz.
The BJP and JD(U) have outrightly rejected the speculation of any alliance shift. Senior leaders, including BJP Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary and JD(U) leader Neeraj Kumar, labeled Lalu’s offer as wishful thinking, emphasizing the strength of the NDA coalition.
