Prediction In Air! India to be Renamed Bharat

It is predicted that India will be renamed Bharat. The resolution would likely be taken up in a special session of Parliament. The predictions are in the air because the dinner invitation sent to the G20 Heads of State had the heading "President of Bharat," whereas earlier it was "President of the Republic of India."

Opposition leader Jairam Ramesh has quoted that the Modi Government is trying to distort history and naming India as Bharat is an assault on Article 1 of the Constitution of India.


However, BJP MP  Harnath Singh Yadav remarked that the word "India" is an abuse given to us by the Britishers and the country should rather use the word "Bharat" to uphold our culture.

The predictions are in the air because the dinner invitation sent to the G20 Heads of State had the heading "President of Bharat," whereas earlier it was "President of the Republic of India."

Interestingly, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also tweeted to further strengthen the case, as he wrote "Republic of Bharat" while expressing his pleasure as the country heads towards Amrit Kaal.
