President Murmu Launches Three Trains, Marking Odisha's 91-Year First Express Service

President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated three crucial trains in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district, boosting connectivity to tribal areas and larger cities. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted these initiatives, marking the first express trains in 91 years for the region. The South Eastern Railway emphasized enhanced access to education, job opportunities, and tourism prospects.
In
Odisha's Mayurbhanj district, President Droupadi Murmu initiated the launch of
three significant trains, enhancing connectivity between tribal areas andlarger urban centers. Accompanied by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw
and railway officials, the event marked a significant milestone in the region's
transportation infrastructure.
These
trains, including the Shalimar-Badampahar Weekly Express, Badampahar-Rourkela
Weekly Express, and Tatanagar-Badampahar MEMU train, are pivotal in linking
tribal areas to major cities, thereby fostering economic growth, healthcare
accessibility, and promoting tribal tourism.
Union
Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the historical significance of this
initiative, mentioning it as the first time in 91 years that express trains
have ventured into the region. He emphasized the government's commitment to
connecting tribal areas, citing the substantial benefits these trains will
bring to the mineral-rich zones.
Under the South Eastern Railway (SER) zone, these trains are projected to expedite communication in industrial and mineral-rich areas. Additionally, the railway officials stressed the convenience for locals to access larger cities for various purposes, benefiting students, job seekers, and residents alike.

The
SER officials highlighted the ease of access for students and job seekers from
Badampahar and Rairangpur to premier educational institutions and corporate
hubs in Kolkata and Howrah. Moreover, these new rail services are expected to
promote tourism from West Bengal and Jharkhand, facilitating exploration of
Odisha's picturesque landscapes and dense forests in the northeastern regions.
In
a multifaceted development endeavor, President Murmu also laid the foundation
stone for the redevelopment of Badampahar Railway Station under the Amrit
Station Scheme. These initiatives aim to not only boost connectivity but also
foster growth and development in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha.
