International Yoga Day:-

Preparations are in full swing at the lawns of the United Nations headquarters in New York City as the world gears up to celebrate the 9th edition of International Yoga Day on June 21, 2023. This year's event holds special significance as it marks the first time that the main ceremony will be hosted abroad, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the celebrations during his maiden state visit to the United States.

International Yoga Day, which has been observed annually since its inception in 2015, serves as a global platform to promote physical and mental well-being through the practice of yoga. While the day is recognized worldwide, the main ceremony has traditionally been held in India, with PM Modi leading the festivities in various cities across the country.

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the past two years saw a shift in the celebrations, with mass gatherings being replaced by individuals practicing yoga indoors. 

However, this year's International Yoga Day promises a return to the grandeur of previous editions, with the event being held at the prestigious United Nations headquarters.

UN's North Lawn has been meticulously prepared for the ceremony, which is scheduled to take place from 8 am to 9 am EST (5:30 pm to 6:30 pm IST). A visual shared by ANI showcased the extensive arrangements being made for the momentous occasion.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's presence at the international event not only emphasizes the importance of yoga but also highlights the growing global recognition of India's ancient practice. 

Yoga, with its myriad physical and mental health benefits, has gained popularity across the world, attracting practitioners from all walks of life.
