The Pro Kabaddi League on Monday revealed the list of 'Elite Retained Players,' 'Retained Young Players,' and 'Existing New Young Players' for the highly anticipated Season 10.
While the franchises have held onto a powerful selection of players, each franchise is now getting ready to further strengthen their teams in the upcoming Player Auction.
The tenth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League promises a series of electrifying and high-energy matches. As per the official press statement, 84 players have been secured across three distinct categories.
Among these, 22 athletes have been retained under the Elite Retained Players (ERP) designation, 24 fall within the Retained Young Players (RYP) segment, and an additional 38 players have found their place in the Existing New Young Players (ENYP).
Certain acclaimed players like Pawan Sehrawat and Vikash Kandola, who have not been retained, are now set to enter the forthcoming arena. They will become part of the PKL Season 10 Player Auction, scheduled to take place from September 8th to 9th, 2023, in Mumbai.
The Head of Sports Leagues at Mashal Sports and the Commissioner of the Pro Kabaddi League, Anupam Goswami, remarked, "With an exceptional nucleus of players retained across all teams, Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 is already poised to deliver a spectacular competition."
He further added, "Meanwhile, the upcoming Pro Kabaddi Season X Player Auction is shaping up to be a truly captivating affair. The return of numerous skilled athletes to the auction pool, along with certain teams aiming to revamp and fortify their squads, adds a layer of excitement. Collectively, these factors set the stage for a pulse-pounding and indelible Season 10 of the Pro Kabaddi League."
The teams' retained talent pool strikes a balance between the potential of young as well as experienced players. Pro Kabaddi League icon Pardeep Narwal continues his journey as a retained player with U.P. Yoddhas, while Aslam Mustafa Inamdar finds his place among the retained players of Puneri Paltan.
At the same time, the holder of the prestigious Most Valuable Player award from Season 9, Arjun Deshwal, remains within the fold of Jaipur Pink Panthers.
These strategic retentions indicate the league's intentions to nurture emerging stars as well as preserve the exceptional talent of established players.
