Rahul Gandhi expressed dismay over the media's focus on mimicry in Parliament while crucial discussions on MPs' ejection, Adani, Rafale, and unemployment remained sidelined. BJP's Parvesh Singh criticized Gandhi's recording and demanded an apology for mocking the Vice President's mimicry.

Amidst
the corridors of the Parliament, a peculiar incident unfurled as Rahul Gandhi,
Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP representing Kerala's Wayanad, stepped into
the limelight with his response to the filming of TMC leader Kalyan Banerjee's
mimicry act. Gandhi's immediate reaction encompassed a blend of concern and
reproach directed towards the media's selective focus.
In
a fervent retort, Gandhi expressed dismay over the disproportionate attention
given to Banerjee's mimicry, aimed at Vice President and Rajya Sabha chairman
Jagdeep Dhankhar. Emphasizing the disparity in coverage, he highlighted the
apparent neglect of critical parliamentary discussions.
"150 of our MPs have been thrown out," Gandhi articulated, underscoring the lack of media discourse on this significant matter. He echoed the sentiment that while mimicry found its way onto screens, crucial deliberations on issues like the expulsion of MPs, Adani, Rafale, and the persisting issue of unemployment remained relegated to the sidelines. This, Gandhi contended, had left the disheartened MPs relegated to the periphery.

In
a charged statement to the media, Gandhi questioned the responsibility of news
outlets, urging them to showcase substantive news instead of fixating on
trivialities. "Our MPs are disturbed... show some news, at least a little
bit," he implored, underscoring the gravity of the topics bypassed by
media attention.
The
incident didn't conclude without backlash. BJP's West Delhi MP, Parvesh Sahib
Singh, launched a scathing attack on Gandhi and the Congress party, attributing
their actions to post-electoral frustration. Singh anticipated the BJP's return
to power in 2024 and condemned Gandhi's recording of the mimicry as akin to a
monkey's actions.
Singh's
criticism escalated as he demanded an apology from the entire Indian alliance
for what he perceived as disrespect towards the Vice President. He decried the
opposition's mockery of high constitutional authority, intensifying the already
heated political rift over the contentious mimicry incident within the
parliamentary precincts.
