The Rajya Sabha Chairman, Jagdeep Dhankhar, criticized a TMC MP for mimicking him, labeling it shameful. The uproar led to adjournments, as the opposition demanded Home Minister Amit Shah's statement regarding a Parliament security breach and suspension revocation. Around 87 MPs have been suspended, intensifying chaos in the house.
During
a recent session in the Rajya Sabha, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar expressed strong
disapproval toward a Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP, Kalyan Banerjee, for
mimicking him. Describing the act as "shameful," Dhankhar condemned
Banerjee's behavior, highlighting the incident during a protest on the
Parliament's stairs. Notably, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was present and
recorded the mimicry.
The
situation escalated as the opposition members persisted in creating chaos
within the house, particularly focusing on the issue of a breach in
Parliament's security. The chairman emphasized the seriousness of the mimicry
incident, urging a limit to such behavior and emphasizing the need for decorum
within the parliamentary premises.
Furthermore, there have been continuous demands from the opposition for a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the breach in Parliament's security. Additionally, they have been pressing for the reinstatement of suspended members of the house. A significant count of 87 MPs from the Rajya Sabha have faced suspension due to their unruly conduct and disruptions during the proceedings.

The
session witnessed instances where senior members, including Digvijaya Singh
from the Congress party, were reprimanded for causing disorder. Dhankhar's
critique extended to the behavior of a senior leader recording the
inappropriate conduct of another MP, stressing the inappropriateness of such
actions.
The
disruption continued with the opposition demanding Shah's presence and a
statement concerning the security breach, contrasting the suspension of
numerous MPs against the BJP MP's continued presence in the house despite
allegedly aiding the intruders' entry into Parliament.
As chaos persisted, with slogans and protests from opposition benches, the Rajya Sabha witnessed sparse attendance. The tensions remained high, reflecting the discontent among opposition parties over the breach and the suspension of their members. The incident highlighted the existing political rifts and the demand for accountability and fair treatment within the parliamentary setup.
