CSK's Early Dominance Sets the Tone in Thrilling Encounter Against RCB
CSK started strong in the first innings, thanks to Ajinkya Rahane's impressive batting skills in the PowerPlay overs. Despite Ruturaj Gaikwad's early dismissal by Mohammed Siraj, Rahane paired up with Devon Conway to take CSK to 53 for 1 in just six overs. Conway continued to dominate the field, scoring a 32-ball fifty by the 10th over, and hit Maxwell down the ground for a six. However, Wanindu Hasaranga's deceptive googly tricked Rahane, and he departed for a 20-ball 37 in the same over.

But CSK did not lose their focus, and Conway and Shivam Dube continued to dominate RCB's bowlers. RCB's bowlers struggled to contain them as they scored an array of boundaries and sixes. CSK's last four overs fetched 14, 14, 10, and 16 runs, taking their total to an impressive 226/6, their third-best IPL total.
RCB's du Plessis and Maxwell hit 17 sixes in a record-breaking stand
RCB had a challenging task ahead of them, with Virat Kohli and Mahipal Lomror getting dismissed early, leaving Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell to lead the charge. The duo began to smash the ball all over the park, hitting a total of 17 sixes in their 126-run stand just 61 balls. Despite Du Plessis hurting himself on the field, he continued to swing for the fences and hit two fours and a six in a 17-run Deshpande over to get a quick move-on from the early wreckage. Maxwell also hit two sixes off Akash Singh and laid into Theekshana in the final over of the PowerPlay to take RCB to 75/2 in six overs.
Dhoni's stunning catches lead CSK to victory over RCB
Du Plessis and Maxwell took RCB to 121/2 at the halfway stage with Pathirana and Jadeja also getting a taste of their manic hitting. Even as Du Plessis appeared to slow down, Maxwell kept at it in an inning that included eight sixes. However, Theekshana finally got the breakthrough when Maxwell miscued a shot, and Dhoni took a brilliant catch to put the first big dent in RCB's chase. In the following over, Du Plessis mistimed a shot, and Dhoni took another stunning catch under pressure to dismiss him. The departure of the RCB captain marked the start of CSK's late comeback.

With RCB needing 46 off 24 balls and Dinesh Karthik at the crease, Dhoni brought back Tushar Deshpande in the 17th over. Karthik hit a four to start the over and was then dropped by Ruturaj Gaikwad long on. He hit another four next ball but was dismissed on the following delivery when he mistimed a shot, and Jadeja took the catch.
