Bangladesh's cricketer, Shakib Al Hasan, commits to prioritizing national team duties over lucrative T20 league contracts. Despite recovering from a finger injury sustained during the World Cup, Shakib plans to skip leagues like the IPL and PSL. His aim is to focus on domestic T20 tournaments and set his sights on the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Declaring his allegiance to Bangladesh across all formats, Shakib emphasizes his determination to prolong his cricketing career, rejecting retirement thoughts at 36. "I'm sacrificing franchise tournaments for national team commitments," he affirmed. While expressing a desire for continued cricketing longevity, he remains pragmatic about the future's uncertainties.

Shakib's injury forced him to miss the home Test series against New Zealand and will further sideline him from the team's upcoming white-ball series in New Zealand. Initially hopeful for a sooner recovery, medical advice extended his rehabilitation period. "It's taking longer than anticipated, needing six weeks of rehabilitation," he disclosed, outlining his return strategy through the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

With the rehabilitation process coinciding with elections, Shakib eyes a full fitness return for the BPL, aiming to resume competitive cricket from its commencement. His decision to forgo the T20 leagues highlights his dedication to representing Bangladesh and underscores his commitment to regain full fitness before stepping back into professional cricket.
