Sharad Pawar, aged 82, has responded to his nephew Ajit Pawar’s comments about his age by quoting former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Pawar, who recently launched a mission to rebuild the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) after Ajit Pawar’s secret alliance with the BJP, used Vajpayee’s words to assert that he is neither tired nor retired.

On to the Vajpayee’s transfer of leadership to L.K. Advani, Sharad Pawar said that “Na tired, na retired. Lekin ab Advaniji ke netritva mein vijay ki aur prasthan kijiye” (Not tired, not retired. But now, march forward under Advaniji’s leadership) and remember those lines by his age and condition.

Ajit Pawar had criticized his uncle’s age, that it was time for him to retire and make way for the younger generation. However, Sharad Pawar remained undeterred and reiterated that his effectiveness is not determined by his age, whether he is 82 or 92. Emphasizing his commitment to serving the people rather than seeking positions of power, Pawar mentioned Morarji Desai becoming prime minister at an older age.

Pawar, who recently launched a mission to rebuild the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) after Ajit Pawar’s secret alliance with the BJP, used Vajpayee’s words to assert that he is neither tired nor retired.

The power struggle between the uncle and nephew escalated when Ajit Pawar aligned with the BJP and claimed the NCP’s party symbol. Despite the familial and political challenges, Sharad Pawar remains resolute in his mission to rebuild the NCP and dismisses any suggestions of retirement. As a cancer survivor, he has openly discussed his health issues and addressed concerns about his well-being.

Pawar’s previous experiences of rebuilding his party after facing significant obstacles, including the desertion of party members, have instilled confidence in him. Sharad Pawar maintains his commitment to serving the people and dispels any notions of fatigue or retirement with the resounding message of “Na tired hu na retired” (I am neither tired nor retired).

Further he expressed his determination to start anew and rebuild the NCP during the ongoing turmoil and remains resolute in his determination to serve the people and lead his party forward.
