Twenty-seven people were burnt to death and more than 60 others got burnt in a fire that razed a popular games arcade in Rajkot in Gujarat in western India on Saturday. As a result, it became challenging for investigators to identify the victims’ bodies because they were burnt to ashes, as the authorities mentioned.

The fire continued and quickly large black clouds of smoke billowed into the sky; at the time of the fire, the building housed children and youths. As the night went on everyone could be seen observing the structure being involved in flames, and people struggling to douse the fire.

Senior police officer Radhika Bharai stated this to journalists on Tuesday when she was announcing the new death toll of 27 from the scene of the incident, saying that the bodies are completely burnt so it will be difficult for the authorities to identify them. Journalists from UNOSCO reported more people who may still be trapped in the debris, according to the voice translation from English to Arabic.

As it was highlighted by the preceding media briefs, 24 people were killed and some of them were children. This fire took place in the afternoon when many people were put in the arcade.

Thus, the cause of the fatal fire has not been identified yet. The issue was brought to the notice of the Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel for him to address the matter and he has formed a Special Investigation Team. The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, also expressed his concern regarding the tragedy and through condolences, he said that his thoughts were with the families of the victims.

Indeed, the fire incident that happened at the arcade this Saturday will bring such issues closer to the light across the country.
