In a harrowing incident, a 24-year-old Indian student is fighting for his life in the US state of Indiana. The young man, identified as Varun, was brutally stabbed with a knife in the temple by his attacker, Jordan Andrad, 24, at a public gym in Valparaiso city on a fateful Sunday morning. According to reports from the news agency PTI, Varun's condition is critical.

The attacker, Jordan Andrad, was promptly apprehended and now faces serious charges, including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and attempted murder. Authorities are diligently probing the motives behind this shocking assault, which has left the Indian student's life hanging in the balance.

PTI quoted a report stating, "Varun was attacked with a knife by his assailant, resulting in severe injuries. He was rushed to a Fort Wayne hospital due to the grave nature of his wounds. Shockingly, doctors have given him a minimal zero to five percent chance of survival."

The assailant, Andrad, told police that he had seen Varun, a stranger, in the gym's massage area that morning and that he had thought the man seemed "a little weird." Andrad reacted "the right way," as the charging statement puts it since he thought the person posed a threat.

This unnerving incident has unsettled the local community and serves as a sobering reminder of the need for safety and vigilance, even on seemingly ordinary occasions. As Varun struggles to survive, the investigation into the motivations behind this terrible attack is still underway.
