The Kerala Story

Sudipto Sen's cinematic masterpiece, "The Kerala Story," emerged as one of the most trending Hindi films of the year, captivating audiences with its enthralling narrative.

Led by the talented Adah Sharma, the film triumphed at the box office, amassing a staggering Rs. 200 crore.

However, the journey to secure an OTT release has hit a roadblock for the makers. In an exclusive interview with Rediff, filmmaker Sudipto Sen dismissed rumors of inadequate offers from OTT platforms. Instead, he boldly accused Bollywood of colluding against them, seemingly resentful of their box office success.

"Despite our remarkable achievements, we have yet to receive any worthwhile offers. It appears as though the film industry has united to punish us," revealed Sen, shedding light on the challenges they currently face.

Despite box office success, 'The Kerala Story' faces hurdles in securing an OTT release.

In a candid statement, Sudipto Sen expressed that the astounding box office triumph of "The Kerala Story" has become a sore spot for various factions within the film industry, resulting in their collective efforts to penalize the film's success.

Based on 'true' events, this cinematic gem secured the illustrious position of being the second highest-grossing film in 2023, trailing only behind Shah Rukh Khan's "Pathaan." Recently, Sen revealed that his intent behind creating the film was to awaken the consciousness of 100 crore Indians, igniting conversations surrounding pressing issues like terrorism and love jihad. The impact of "The Kerala Story" has undeniably stirred discussions and prompted a shift in public discourse.

"The Kerala Story" ignited a whirlwind of social media debates, as its provocative claims sparked intense discussions. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi broke his silence, urging the public to watch the film despite the ban. While the West Bengal government imposed a ban on the film's screening in the state, Madhya Pradesh took a different stance by declaring it tax-free.

At the heart of this controversial narrative lies the story of a Hindu woman from Kerala, who becomes a victim of brainwashing and manipulation, ultimately being coerced into converting to Islam and forced to join the ISIS terrorist organization in Syria. Alongside Adah Sharma, "The Kerala Story" boasts a talented cast, including Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani, and Sonia Balani, portraying pivotal roles that contribute to the film's compelling storyline.
