Following writer Yashica Dutt's allegations against the creators of Made in Heaven 2, namely Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, for unauthorized utilization of her life's work, celebrity designer Tarun Tahiliani has also taken to social media to express his concerns. Through his official Instagram account, Tarun has accused the show's producers of incorporating his clothing brand into the series, falsely attributing them to a fictitious label associated with a fictional designer named Akshay Jaiswal in Episode 2 of the web show. This character, Akshay Jaiswal, was portrayed by actor Kashyap Baldev Shangari.
Tarun Tahiliani argues that Mrunal Thakur, a key figure in Episode 2, donned attire from his label. Posting pictures of Mrunal adorned in his creations on Instagram, he conveys his disillusionment and states, "It is truly disheartening when a well-known OTT series disregards the underlying agreement for clothing provision! To illustrate, substantial segments of the second episode of 'Made in Heaven' were curated with garments supplied by the Tarun Tahiliani studio in a spirit of trust towards the stylist."
Tarun further commented, "Regrettably, an imaginary designer (portrayed by an actor) showcased our attire under a fictional brand! This represents a deeply unsettling betrayal of trust. Had this been the production's intention, they should have enlisted a costume designer, conceptualized costumes, and followed through accordingly."
He wrapped up his statement by voicing his optimism for the avoidance of similar incidents going forward. "We aspire to a future where this situation doesn't recur for other designers who have generously contributed their creations to OTT projects. Moreover, our aspiration is that such practices are unequivocally deemed unacceptable in the times ahead. Regards, Tarun Tahiliani."
