In a recent incident at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), a confrontation unfolded between members of ABVP and Left groups during a meeting regarding the upcoming JNUSU polls. The altercation transpired at the Sabarmati Dhaba on campus during the University General Body Meeting (UGBM).

During the meeting, tensions escalated as members of the Democratic Students Federation (DSF), affiliated with the Left, accused ABVP members of disrupting the proceedings by encroaching upon the dias and heckling council members and speakers. Videos circulating on social media depicted heated arguments and slogans exchanged between the opposing factions.

The DSF alleged that ABVP collaborated with the university administration to impede the democratic process of the elections. Reports surfaced of ABVP members purportedly attacking JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh, with claims of water being thrown at her amidst the chaos. The Students' Federation of India condemned the alleged assault, emphasizing the unacceptable nature of such behavior.

In response, ABVP asserted that their members were also targeted, citing instances of violence against their members, including Vikas Patel and Prashanto Bagchi. The situation further escalated with allegations of physical assault against a differently-abled student, Divya Prakash, reportedly by Left-affiliated students.

ABVP refuted claims of instigation, attributing the disruption to the Left groups, and accusing them of attempting to thwart the UGBM. Despite allegations from both sides, the JNU administration remained silent on the matter. The incident underscores ongoing tensions within the university campus, particularly concerning student union activities and ideological clashes.
