In a late-night operation near Ambedkar College in Northeast Delhi, the Delhi Police successfully apprehended three individuals suspected to be members of the notorious Hashim Baba gang. The arrest followed an intense exchange of gunfire between the suspects and law enforcement personnel, which took place in the vicinity of the Gokulpuri Metro Station. During the encounter, two police officers sustained minor injuries but managed to bring the situation under control.

The three apprehended individuals have been identified as Ali, also known as Fahadh, Asif, also known as Khalid, and Alsejan, also known as Thoth. Following their arrest, they were immediately transferred to a local hospital for medical treatment due to injuries sustained during the gunfire exchange. The injuries sustained by the suspects are reported to be non-life-threatening.

The arrest of these gang members comes in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on March 9, where a man named Arbaaz was killed, and another individual was injured. The police had been actively searching for the perpetrators of this crime, and the apprehension of these suspects marks a significant breakthrough in the investigation.

According to Joy Tirkey, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for the North East district of Delhi, the police received specific intelligence regarding the movement of individuals involved in the shooting incident that occurred in Seelampur two days before the encounter. Acting on this information, the police attempted to intercept the suspects, which led to the exchange of gunfire.

DCP Tirkey stated that the police made several attempts to stop the suspects, but they resorted to opening fire at the law enforcement personnel. Approximately 23-24 shots were fired during the encounter, indicating the intensity of the confrontation. Despite sustaining injuries, the police managed to subdue the suspects and take them into custody.

The Seelampur shooting incident, which resulted in the death of Arbaaz and injuries to another individual, prompted the police to initiate a murder and attempted murder investigation. The motive behind the Seelampur incident remains unclear, but the police are actively pursuing leads to establish the cause and apprehend all individuals involved.

Currently, the three apprehended gang members are under police custody and will be subjected to legal proceedings. Simultaneously, the injured police officers are receiving medical attention to ensure their swift recovery. Investigations into both the Seelampur shooting incident and the recent encounter are ongoing as law enforcement authorities work towards ensuring justice for the victims and maintaining public safety.
