Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiates BJP's Lok Sabha campaign in Karnataka from Kalaburagi, the home turf of Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge. Modi's strategic move signals BJP's intent in Karnataka amidst changing political dynamics. The campaign includes public meetings in Kalaburagi and Shivamogga.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised to inaugurate the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Lok Sabha election campaign in Karnataka, commencing from the stronghold of Mallikarjun Kharge, a veteran Congress leader. This strategic move underscores the BJP's determined bid to fortify its presence in the state, especially in constituencies where it faces stiff opposition.

The campaign launch, scheduled for today in Kalaburagi, holds significant political weight as it not only symbolizes BJP's intent to challenge entrenched political strongholds but also signifies a confrontation with prominent Congress figures. Kalaburagi, being the home district of AICC President M. Mallikarjun Kharge, presents a formidable battleground for both parties. Kharge, a seasoned politician, has previously represented the constituency in the Lok Sabha and remains a key figure in Karnataka politics. However, BJP's growing influence in the region poses a formidable challenge to Kharge's traditional dominance.

Sources within the Congress party suggest that in response to BJP's aggressive campaign strategy, the party is contemplating fielding Radhakrishna Doddamani, Kharge's son-in-law, in the upcoming elections. This move reflects the party's attempt to counter BJP's momentum by leveraging familial ties and local support.

In addition to the rally in Kalaburagi, Prime Minister Modi is slated to address a public gathering in Shivamogga on March 18. This demonstrates the BJP's concerted effort to cover key constituencies and mobilize support across the state. The party's state general secretary, V. Sunil Kumar, emphasized the significance of these rallies in shaping the electoral landscape of Karnataka.

Karnataka holds paramount importance for the BJP in southern India, given its historical significance as a state where the party has previously held power. In the last Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured a landslide victory, capturing 25 out of 28 seats, along with support from an independent candidate.

However, the political dynamics have undergone significant transformations since then. The Congress party's landslide victory in the Assembly polls marked a notable shift in power dynamics, with the party securing 135 seats out of 224. The subsequent alliance between the Congress and JD(S) further altered the political calculus, with JD(S) joining the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) last September.

Against this backdrop, top BJP leaders, including JP Nadda, Amit Shah, and Yogi Adityanath, are set to embark on a series of tours across various Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka. Their objective is to galvanize support and bolster the party's electoral prospects in the run-up to the elections. As both BJP and Congress intensify their campaign efforts, the upcoming weeks are poised to witness heightened political fervor and strategic maneuvering in Karnataka.
