President Trump warned that countries enforcing digital taxes on U.S. tech firms will face new tariffs and technology restrictions. He argued the measures unfairly target American companies while benefiting China. The threat comes as Europe advances digital service taxes, reviving long-running disputes over global tech regulation and trade policies.

U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened new tariffs on countries that impose digital taxes on American tech giants such as Google, Facebook, Apple, and Amazon.
In a social media post, Trump said such taxes discriminate against U.S. companies while sparing rivals like China. He warned that unless the measures are withdrawn, his administration would impose substantial tariffs on exports to the U.S. and restrict access to American technology and chips.
Many European nations have already introduced digital service taxes, sparking years of trade friction with Washington. Sources also indicated the Trump administration is weighing sanctions on EU officials tied to the bloc’s Digital Services Act.

Trump previously clashed with Canada and France over similar taxes, ordering renewed investigations in February into foreign governments that target U.S. tech firms. His latest warning underscores escalating tensions over digital economy rules and international trade.
