UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya publicly praised CM Yogi Adityanath as the "best CM in the country," despite rumors of internal BJP rifts following Lok Sabha poll setbacks. This statement comes after speculation about their strained relationship and potential party reorganization, highlighting efforts to project unity within the BJP.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has publicly praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, calling him the "best CM in the country." This statement comes amid recent reports of internal discord within the state's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit following disappointing results in the Lok Sabha polls.

Speaking to BJP workers in Mirzapur, Maurya extolled the virtues of the party's "double-engine" government, referring to BJP rule at both state and national levels. He rhetorically asked, "Is there any other leader like PM (Narendra) Modi in the world, and is there any other CM like Yogi Adityanath in the country?"

Maurya's remarks are particularly noteworthy given the longstanding rumors of a "less-than-warm relationship" between him and Adityanath. Last month, speculation arose about a potential organizational shake-up in the state BJP, fueled by Maurya's increasingly vocal statements about the party organization being "above the government."

The deputy CM, a prominent OBC leader, had previously made public statements that were interpreted as subtle criticism of Adityanath's leadership. His recent visit to the BJP's central leadership in Delhi further intensified rumors of internal strife.

This praise for Adityanath comes as the BJP grapples with its reduced tally in the recent Lok Sabha elections. The party's seat count in Uttar Pradesh dropped from 62 in 2019 to 33 in 2024, while opposition parties made significant gains.

As the BJP prepares for future electoral challenges, Maurya's latest comments may be seen as an attempt to project unity within the party ranks. However, political observers will be closely watching for any further developments in the dynamic between these two key figures in Uttar Pradesh's political landscape.
