In a significant move, the Uttar Pradesh government has declared a statewide closure of all schools on January 25, 2024, to mark the Birth Anniversary of Muhammad Hazrat Ali. This division encompasses both government and private schools, spanning from Nursery to Class 12th, impacting millions of students across the state.

The official notice, dispatched by the Education Department to all schools, emphasized the closure on Thursday, January 25, in honor of Hazrat Ali's Birth Anniversary. Simultaneously, the notice acknowledged the upcoming celebration of Republic Day on January 26. The measure aims to ensure a collective observance of these occasions, fostering a sense of cultural and national significance among students.

Amidst this educational hiatus, specific districts are experiencing cold waves, affecting states like Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, and North Madhya Pradesh. Consequently, the government has tailored its approach by declaring a holiday for primary classes and adjusting school timings for secondary classes.

In response to the prevailing cold weather conditions, the District Magistrate of Agra has mandated an extension of the school closure for students up to class 8 until January 27. Originally scheduled to resume on January 25, this extension is a result of the combined impact of Hazrat Ali's Birth Anniversary and the Republic Day holiday. Simultaneously, school hours for classes 9 to 12 have been adjusted to operate between 10.30 AM to 3.30 PM during this period.

Meanwhile, in Lucknow, the District Magistrate has taken a proactive stance by instructing the implementation of online classes until January 27. This initiative aims to ensure uninterrupted learning while addressing the challenges posed by the cold weather. Additionally, a directive has been issued to install room heaters in classrooms, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to mitigate the impact of the weather on education.
