Delhi University has earmarked a significant budget of Rs 67.71 crore for the establishment of a WiFi network, spanning its numerous college campuses and a new girls' hostel in northwest Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar. The initiative is aimed at fostering seamless connectivity and bolstering academic endeavors across the institution's academic landscape.

According to official documentation, approximately 90 colleges under Delhi University, spanning both the north and south campuses, along with the Dhaka Hostel complex, are set to benefit from this WiFi connectivity endeavor. This ambitious project underscores the university's commitment to modernizing its infrastructure and enriching the academic experience for students and faculty alike.

The funding for this initiative will be sourced from the loan corpus of Rs 938.33 crore secured by the university from the Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA) in October last year. Out of this corpus, a substantial share of Rs 261.33 crore has been earmarked by HEFA specifically for setting up the WiFi network, alongside commencing construction work for the Faculty of Technology building.

The Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA), a collaborative effort between Canara Bank and the Ministry of Education, plays a pivotal role in providing financial support for educational infrastructure and research facilities across premier educational institutions in India. Delhi University's association with HEFA highlights its strategic approach towards leveraging external funding to bolster its infrastructural capabilities and academic pursuits.

This initiative aligns with Delhi University's broader expansion plans, including the establishment of a campus in east Delhi's Surajmal Vihar and the inauguration of a new college in Najafgarh. With HEFA's support, the university aims to expedite the realization of these ambitious projects, thus fortifying its position as a leading academic institution in the country.
