In Gurugram, a distressing incident unfolded as a gang of fraudulent individuals impersonating police officers targeted an Uzbek national, resulting in the loss of $16,000. Sobiroy Botir, hailing from Uzbekistan, had arrived in Gurugram alongside his two brothers for a kidney transplant at Artemis Hospital.

The unfortunate event transpired on a Saturday evening around 9 pm when the trio was on their way back to their hotel from a local mall. Approximately 100 meters away from their accommodation, their journey was abruptly halted by a group of individuals traveling in a car.

Claiming authority as law enforcement, the occupants of the vehicle presented what appeared to be legitimate ID cards and demanded a search of the brothers' belongings. Botir recounted the ordeal, stating that the impersonators insisted on inspecting their bags, citing police protocol.

Under the guise of a routine inspection, one of the imposters surreptitiously pocketed $16,000 from Botir's bag. Swiftly retreating into their vehicle, the faux officers fled the scene, leaving the victims startled and bereft of their money.

Acting promptly, Botir lodged a formal complaint through the hotel manager, Mohit Sehrawat. The complaint detailed the fraudulent act committed by these individuals pretending to be law enforcement officers. Consequently, an FIR was registered against the unidentified culprits at the Sector 53 Police Station, citing sections related to snatching, impersonation-based cheating, and shared intent.

Law enforcement authorities have taken the matter seriously, initiating an investigation aided by available CCTV footage from the vicinity. Their primary objective is to identify and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for this distressing incident, ensuring that justice is served for the aggrieved party. As the investigation progresses, authorities remain committed to pursuing all leads to resolve this case and bring the offenders to justice.
