In a significant development, a court in Kerala has granted ten-day police custody to the accused involved in the Kochi blasts that occurred on October 29. The accused, identified as Dominic Martin, voluntarily surrendered to the police after the tragic incident.

The blast, which took place during a prayer meeting of the Jehovah's Witnesses at a convention center in Kalamassery, Kochi, resulted in four fatalities and left more than 50 individuals injured. Shortly after the incident, Dominic Martin, who claimed to be an estranged member of Jehovah's Witnesses, turned himself into the police in Thrissur district, Kerala, confessing his involvement in the multiple blasts.

Principal Session Court Judge Honey M Varghese has approved the police's request for ten-day custody of Dominic Martin. The police argued that this custody was necessary to investigate his sources of income, international connections, and other relevant aspects of the case.

Furthermore, the police stated that they needed to take the accused to specific locations to gather additional evidence. Despite the legal assistance offered, Martin once again declined the aid of a legal aid lawyer and had been in judicial custody since October 31.

Tragically, another casualty was reported in the aftermath of the Kochi blast case. An elderly woman, Moly Joy from Kalamassery, succumbed to her injuries sustained during the attack. She had suffered over 70% burns during the religious gathering's explosion on October 29 and was on ventilator support.

Previously, a 12-year-old girl named Libina from Malayattoor in Ernakulam district had also passed away due to injuries sustained in the blast on October 30 at the Kalamassery Government Medical College Hospital.

Investigating agencies are currently suspecting the involvement of a terrorist organization in the series of deadly explosions that shook the state. Speculations are circulating that these blasts might be a retaliatory act linked to the resolution passed in the Convention Centre concerning the Israel-Hamas conflict. A case has been registered under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in connection with these incidents.
