The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee is reportedly in great demand for Kohli to open the competition with Rohit as his partner. Skipper Rohit Sharma, head coach Rahul Dravid, and senior strategist Ajit Agarkar met last week in Mumbai and discussed the possibility of starting the match with Virat Kohli.

It is said that there is no longer any speculation about Kohli being on India's Twenty20 World Cup squad, which will be unveiled in two weeks. The selectors, including Rohit, Dravid, and others, met following the ODI World Cup to discuss Kohli's future in the T20 team. That being said, there has been a lot of turmoil over the last several months.

Kohli was available for the home series against Afghanistan. He and Rohit triumphantly returned to the Twenty20 International after a near two-year hiatus. He batted at his normal position of No. 3 in both of those matches, with Rohit and Yashasvi Jaiswal opening the batting. But that could change in the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup.

According to the Jagran article, before the selection committee came up with the opening move, Kohli reportedly asked them to clarify his standing in the Twenty20 World Cup.
