As a symbolic gesture, he gifted Prime Minister Rishi Sunak a cricket bat autographed by Virat Kohli. In a distinctive Diwali gesture, India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, presently on an official tour of the United Kingdom, bestowed Prime Minister Rishi Sunak with a cricket bat autographed by Virat Kohli. The meeting at 10 Downing Street, accompanied by the leaders' spouses, underscored the contemporary nature of India-UK ties.

Jaishankar used his official social media account to post details of the encounter, expressing his joy at meeting with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Diwali. He offered Prime Minister Narendra Modi's warmest wishes, highlighting India and the UK's active participation in changing their relationship. The post went viral on social media, demonstrating the significance of the cricket-themed present.

In response, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak welcomed Jaishankar to Downing Street and wished him a happy Diwali. The leaders recognized the current Diwali celebrations among Indian communities throughout the world. The exchange represented the cultural links between the two countries as well as the warmth of the Diwali celebrations.

Scheduled for an upcoming visit to the UK, Jaishankar will engage in talks with his British counterpart, James Cleverly, and other esteemed dignitaries. The inclusion of a cricket bat autographed by Virat Kohli has injected a sporty dimension into the diplomatic meeting, generating buzz on various social media channels.
