Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour: 35 Boats Destroyed in Fire

A fire erupted at Visakhapatnam's fishing harbour, engulfing over 35 fibre-mechanised boats without causing any casualties. Emergency services swiftly responded to contain the blaze, prompting an investigation into the suspected foul play by unidentified individuals.

In the bustling fishing hub of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, a calamitous event unfolded as a devastating fire ripped through the serene night, consuming more than 30 fiber-mechanized boats moored at the harbour. The night turned tumultuous as flames engulfed the vessels, setting ablaze the tranquil waters of the port.

Prompt action ensued as vigilant locals swiftly alerted firefighting services upon witnessing the initial flicker of fire on one of the boats. Firefighters, responding with commendable speed, rushed to the scene to contain the escalating inferno that quickly spread its wrath to the neighboring vessels. Despite their valiant efforts, nearly 35 boats succumbed to the intense flames, shrouding the atmosphere in chaos and despair.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police in Visakhapatnam, Anand Redd, disclosed the harrowing sequence of events that began with a solitary boat ablaze before swiftly spreading its fiery embrace to the surrounding fleet of fiber-mechanized boats. Amidst the turmoil, the fortunate aspect emerged in the form of zero casualties or injuries reported during this catastrophic incident, providing a slight relief amidst the grim aftermath.

Authorities sprang into action, immediately launching an intensive investigation into the incident. An FIR (First Information Report) was promptly filed to delve deeper into the root cause of the devastating conflagration. DCP Redd commended the rapid response and coordinated efforts of both the police and firefighting units, which played a pivotal role in swiftly bringing the blazing havoc under control.
