Amidst escalating tensions in West Bengal, Union Minister Giriraj Singh drew a contentious analogy, likening the state's governance under Mamata Banerjee to the regime of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. This comparison emerged following a distressing incident involving an attack on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team.

The ED team had ventured into West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on an investigative mission, only to face hostility. Their vehicle was targeted, resulting in the injury of several officials and severe damage to the car's windows. Giriraj Singh wasted no time in seizing upon this event, sharply criticizing the state government's handling of the situation.

Singh's stark comments highlighted a perceived absence of democracy in Mamata Banerjee's regime, drawing parallels to the autocratic rule observed in North Korea under Kim Jong Un. He implied that the attack on the ED team symbolized the eroded democratic values within West Bengal, accusing Banerjee's government of resembling an authoritarian regime.

The BJP, in response, vehemently condemned the incident, attributing the assault to alleged TMC goons and Rohingya immigrants who, they claimed, had infiltrated Bengal.
