Akbaruddin Owaisi, representing AIMIM, assumes the Pro-tem Speaker role in the Telangana Assembly. BJP's T Raja Singh's refusal to take oath sparks attention amidst the appointment, setting the stage for the Assembly's session under the governance of a temporary Speaker.
In a significant development, AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi took the oath
as the Pro-tem Speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly at Raj Bhawan in
Hyderabad. The swearing-in ceremony, administered by Telangana Governor
Tamilisai Soundararajan, saw the presence of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth
Reddy.
The Governor appointed Akbaruddin Owaisi to the Pro-tem Speaker's
position on Friday, ahead of the commencement of the first session of the third
Telangana State Legislative Assembly, scheduled to initiate on Saturday.
The Pro-tem Speaker role serves temporarily, overseeing Assembly
proceedings until the newly-elected members are sworn in, and a Speaker is duly
elected. This procedural role plays a pivotal role in the initial stages of the
Assembly sessions.
Previously, Revanth Reddy had made history as the first Congress Chief Minister of Telangana, leading the party to secure an absolute majority by winning 64 out of 119 seats in the state.

However, BJP's T Raja Singh sparked controversy by declining to take the
oath in the Telangana assembly. He cited the appointment of AIMIM MLA
Akbaruddin Owaisi as the pro-tem speaker as his reason for refusal. Singh
stressed his intent to take the oath only after the appointment of a full-term
speaker.
Singh's refusal raised eyebrows and generated attention as it emerged
amidst the procedural steps preceding the Assembly's session, bringing focus on
the evolving political dynamics within the state Assembly.
This unfolding political scenario sets the stage for the commencement of the Assembly sessions, signaling potential debates and discussions as the state legislature begins its proceedings under the stewardship of the Pro-tem Speaker.
