An Air India flight traveling from Mumbai to New York was diverted to New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Monday following a bomb threat. The flight, AI119, took off at around 2 am but was redirected to Delhi after Mumbai airport authorities received a bomb threat via social media. The threat was reported to Delhi security agencies, who took immediate action to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew.
The aircraft safely landed in Delhi, and all passengers were evacuated to the terminal. Authorities confirmed that all necessary safety protocols were in place to manage the situation. Security personnel are conducting thorough inspections of the aircraft to ensure it is free of any potential danger.
An official statement from Air India reassured that the safety of passengers remains the airline’s top priority. The spokesperson added that ground teams are working diligently to minimize the inconvenience caused by the diversion and delay. The incident follows another safety-related event from a few days earlier when an Air India Express flight had to make an emergency landing in Tiruchirappalli due to technical issues.
