Amidst protests :-
The recently launched documentary by BBC on the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, has already caused a sense of disturbance amongst the ruling party while causing agitation among the netizens. If that wasn't enough, the SC on Monday decided to hear a PIL or Public Interest Litigation against the government's actions to block and remove links to the documentary. M L Sharma, the man behind the PIL, termed the ban on the documentary by the Center as "arbitrary" and "unconstitutional." He further stated that the "butchering" of innocent lives during the 2002 riot needs to be seen by the netizens, as it is their constitutional right.   Amidst protests Amidst protests Earlier, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting sent orders for the removal of links to the documentary from various social media platforms. It was a bold move by the Modi government in the face of adversity. According to the government, the documentary was propaganda against the country, trying to create divisions among communities while tarnishing the image of the PM in the world spectrum.    Amidst protests Amidst protests Notably, the Indian diaspora held protests against the documentary in front of the BBC HQ in London. They were convinced that the allegations raised in the documentary against the PM as "total lies" and gave the reasoning with schemes and decisions taken by the government.  With the elections being a year from now, the decision of the SC on the PIL can be a game-changer in the politics of the country.
