In the wake of a devastating explosion at a pharmaceutical factory in Rambilli, Anakapalle district, the Andhra Pradesh government has announced a substantial compensation package for the victims and their families. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, claimed the lives of 17 workers and left several others injured.

State authorities have pledged ₹1 crore to each family who lost a loved one in the tragic accident. District Collector M N Harendhira Prasad, who visited the injured at a Visakhapatnam hospital, stated that compensation details for those wounded are still being finalized.

The explosion, which rocked the local community, prompted a swift response from rescue teams. Operations concluded around midnight, with all 17 bodies recovered from the site. The incident has drawn national attention, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing his condolences and announcing additional compensation of ₹2 lakh for each bereaved family and ₹50,000 for the injured.

"Pained by the loss of lives due to a mishap at a factory in Anakapalle. Condolences to those who lost their near and dear ones. May the injured recover soon," the Prime Minister's Office posted on social media platform X.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to visit the factory site on Thursday to meet with the affected families and assess the situation firsthand. This visit underscores the government's commitment to addressing the aftermath of the tragedy and ensuring support for those impacted.

As investigations into the cause of the explosion continue, the incident has raised questions about industrial safety standards and the need for stringent regulations in potentially hazardous workplaces. The substantial compensation package reflects the government's recognition of the severity of the accident and its impact on the local community.
