Arvind Kejriwal has relocated to bungalow number 5 on Ferozeshah Road in Lutyens' Delhi following his resignation as chief minister. The bungalow, previously allotted to AAP MP Ashok Mittal, is near the party headquarters. Kejriwal will oversee AAP's campaign for upcoming elections while residing in his assembly constituency. His resignation came after a lengthy stay in Tihar Jail related to an alleged scam. Manish Sisodia has also moved to a different residence after his arrest in the same case.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal has officially moved into a new residence at bungalow number 5 on Ferozeshah Road in Lutyens' Delhi, days after resigning from his role as chief minister. Kejriwal will live with his family in this bungalow, which is located near the AAP headquarters and was previously allotted to the party's Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, Ashok Mittal.
Kejriwal, along with his wife, Sunita, vacated his official residence in Civil Lines, where he had lived since 2015. AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj confirmed that Kejriwal accepted the invitation from Mittal to reside in his Delhi home. Several party members, including MPs, MLAs, and councillors, had offered their residences to Kejriwal following his departure from 6 Flagstaff Road.
In a video message, Ashok Mittal expressed his delight at Kejriwal's choice to stay at his residence, mentioning that he invited him as a guest after learning he had no place to stay post-resignation. Kejriwal is now set to oversee AAP's campaign for upcoming polls in Delhi and other states while residing in New Delhi, which is also his assembly constituency.
His resignation came as a surprise after he was released from Tihar Jail, where he spent over five months in connection with an alleged excise policy scam. Kejriwal has stated he intends to return to the chief minister's position only after receiving a “certificate of honesty” from the people during the Delhi assembly elections scheduled for February next year.
