The forest department in Assam has seized a huge cache of smuggled animal body parts from the Manas National Park and apprehended five suspected poachers.


The efforts of Manas National Park's rangers and officials, under the forest department, resulted in the recovery of rhino horns, elephant tusks, and tiger bones during their operation.


After the arrest of the suspects, legal action has been initiated against them.

A case has been filed against the accused individuals under the Wildlife Protection Act in connection with this matter.


Expressing his appreciation for the dedication shown by the Assam Forest Department, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the operation as a

“first-of-its-kind intel-based operation”.

He stated, “In a first-of-its-kind intel-based operation carried out by the Forest Department, a huge cache of banned wildlife articles including a rhino horn were recovered in an operation in Manas.”

The minister further expressed, “Arrests of poachers have also been made in this connection. Well done.”
