BSP criticizes Samajwadi Party's demand for DNA test in Ayodhya gang rape case, calling it a "conspiracy to save the accused" amid political tensions in Uttar Pradesh.
The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has strongly criticized the Samajwadi Party's (SP) demand for a DNA test in the Ayodhya gang rape case, labeling it a "conspiracy to save the accused." BSP's Uttar Pradesh chief, Vishwanath Pal, questioned the necessity of such a test, given that the victim has already provided her statement at the hospital.
Pal challenged the SP's track record on crimes against women during their previous tenures in power, stating, "When their government was in power, we don't think they had ordered any DNA test in such an incident." He also criticized the SP for not expelling the accused party worker.
The case involves the rape of a 12-year-old girl by two men, including a local SP party worker, over a period of two months. The crime came to light when a medical test revealed the victim's pregnancy.
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav defended the DNA test demand, calling it "a means to secure justice for the victim" and urged the court to take suo motu cognizance of the case. He also called for the best possible medical care for the victim.
The ruling BJP and BSP supremo Mayawati have questioned the need for a DNA test, with Mayawati asking, "How many DNA tests have been done against such accused in their government?"

Meanwhile, the Ayodhya district administration has demolished a bakery owned by one of the accused, citing it as an illegal construction.
As political tensions rise, the BSP has met with the victim's family, assuring them of justice. The case continues to highlight the complex interplay between politics and justice in Uttar Pradesh, with parties trading accusations as they navigate this sensitive issue.
