CNN's Chief
Executive Officer (CEO), Chris Licht, has announced his departure from the
prominent US broadcaster. After taking over from Jeff Zucker just a year ago,
Licht's resignation comes as a surprise.
The move follows
Zucker's resignation due to an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate.
Effective immediately, Licht's departure has been confirmed by CNN's parent
company, Warner Bros. Discovery.
During Licht's
absence, a capable team of seasoned programming leaders will take charge. This
group includes Amy Entelis, responsible for talent and content development,
Virginia Moseley, overseeing editorial matters, and Eric Sherling, in charge of
US-based programming.
In addition,
David Leavy, a trusted associate of Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav,
will oversee the commercial aspects of the company as the new chief operating
officer (COO).
Licht assumed the
CEO role in May 2022, but now, he leaves the position, marking another
significant change within CNN's leadership. With his departure, the network
faces an opportunity to shape its future and navigate the ever-evolving media
landscape.
